The Merrill Presidential Scholars Program honors the university’s most successful seniors, who each recognize a UMD faculty member and high school teacher for contributing to their education.

The national honor recognizes their distinguished efforts to advance science.

Web of Science has honored Dr. Zhanqing Li, Professor at the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Science and ESSIC of the University of Maryland, as a Highly Cited Researcher, an honor bestowed to fewer than 6,200, or about 0.1%, of the world’s researchers, in 21 research fields and across multiple fields.
