Title
Curious Connections Among Aerosols, Clouds, and Dynamics
Abstract
In this talk I will present a few cases of curious connections among aerosols, clouds, and dynamics, including the feedback and interactions among aerosols, cloud physics, cloud, cloud feedbacks. We show that In addition, I show several examples of useful applications of AI/ML. Specifically, we show how aerosols can fundamentally modify convective clouds, marine low clouds, and radiative energy balance of our climate with mostly observations under a controlled environment where attributions can be confidently made. AI/ML as powerful research tools will be highlighted and use cases will be illustrated. The talk is designed to be high-level and invite discussion.
Bio
Tianle Yuan graduated from Peking University with a BS in atmospheric science and minor in computer science. In 2008, he obtained a PhD from Univ. of Maryland, College Park under Prof. Zhanqing Li. His research interest include aerosol-cloud interactions, aerosol and cloud feedback, remote sensing, and application of AI/ML techniques in climate and atmospheric sciences.
