Professor Russ Dickerson Receives the 2025 CMNS Board of Visitors’ Distinguished Faculty Award

We are delighted that Russ Dickerson will receive the 2025 CMNS Board of Visitors’ Distinguished Faculty Award – the highest faculty award of the Board and the College.

Russ is a valued colleague and integral to our department’s functioning and success: His exemplary science, deep engagement in scientific discourse and teaching, and record-setting mentoring of UG and graduate students—has supervised the completion of over 40 Ph.Ds.—while still cheerfully serving on umpteen AOSC, CMNS, and UMD committees to advance the academic enterprise, UMD/AOSC reputations, and the public good must have factored in his selection.

Russ Dickerson has given his very best to the university for over 4 decades. Some of his accomplished, appreciative students have been motivated to give back to UMD/AOSC in gratitude.
