After 50-plus years at UMD, alum and Atmospheric and Oceanic Science Professor Rachel Pinker will retire on February 1, 2025.

Congratulations to AOSC alumni William Ryan (MS, '90) for receiving an Alumni Excellence Award for his great achievements.

I moved to the United States in 2019 to pursue my PhD in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences at the University of Maryland. As a scientist, I have always been passionate about the potential of science to positively transform lives worldwide.

Awardees receive up to $19,000 and a paid summer internship with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Jonathan Poterjoy and Kayo Ide, both from the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Science, will lend their expertise to the new $6.6 million initiative.

Graham Haederle (B.S. ’23, atmospheric and oceanic science; B.S. ’23, finance) helps companies play a part in climate change solutions.
