Mission Statement: The purpose of this graduate student organization is to provide a foundation for bringing students together to perform group activities that allow for the building of character, experience, and excellence in the field of atmospheric and oceanic science.  

Who can join: In order to become a member of MetoGrads, one must be a full or part time registered student in the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Science (AOSC). MetoGrads openly admits AOSC graduate students to its membership and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, sex, sexual orientation, marital status, personal appearance, age, national origin, political affiliation, physical or mental ability, or on the basis of rights secured by the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.  

Officer Elections: Elections for officer and committee positions are typically held each spring semester in May. Any current AOSC graduate student is eligible to run for any officer/committee position. Officers are expected to fulfill their duties as well as be an active member of the department and have the ability to represent the department at conferences, meetings, 

When we meet: We hold monthly meetings the first Wednesday of each month at 5-6pm. All officers are required to join; all other AOSC graduate students are welcome to join although attendance is not mandatory. Meeting Minutes are recorded and are available through Lindsey Rodio (larodio@umd.edu).
