Three AOSC faculty members received major national awards
Three AOSC faculty members received major national awards at the recent annual meetings of the American Meteorological Society (AMS) (Houston, January 2026) and the American Geophysical Union (New Orleans, Dec. 2025).
Zhanqing Li, Distinguished University Professor, was awarded with both the AMS’ Verner E. Suomi Technology Medal “for fundamental contributions in the application of remote sensing to quantifying Earth’s energy budget, including the impacts of aerosols and their interactions with clouds.", and the AGU’s Tyndall Lectureship of Global Environmental Change “for his exceptional contributions to advancing atmospheric, environmental, and global change sciences”.
Jacob O. Wenegrat, Assistant Professor was awarded with the AMS’s Nicholas P. Fofonoff Award "for pioneering insights into the role of topography, boundary layers, and air-sea interactions in submesoscale ocean dynamics" as an early-career outstanding scientist.
Christopher M. Kenseth, Assistant Professor, was awarded with the AGU’s James R. Holton Award for "For fundamental insights into the chemistry and sources of atmospheric organic aerosol” as an early-career outstanding scientist.
